Negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) is an advanced wound healing technique that is used to accelerate the healing process. Its use has steadily grown, as increasingly positive outcomes have been demonstrated. Recently, NPWT has been used on more complex wounds, where previously, only reconstructive surgery would have been considered. This article describes the use of NPWT to treat an exposed kidney following renal transplant surgery, facilitating the transfer of treatment to the community.
