This article focuses on an expert panel meeting that considered the clinical performance attributes of two wound care modalities – generic NPWT and an innovative wound care dressing (sachet S) utilising Hydration Response Technology (HRT) – in order to provide key considerations for selection.
The working group consisted of internationally recognised experts in wound management who met to share their experiences and to draw on their combined knowledge.
The group concluded that adequate wound bed preparation is a necessary prequel to healing. In addition, it emerged from discussion that both NPWT and the HRT dressing demonstrated similar clinical performance attributes. However, in view of the potential for greater cost savings and greater patient concordance with the HRT dressing, it was suggested that a review of the role of NPWT was now a timely issue for modern wound care.
