This article is based on a symposium held at the Eliminating Avoidable Pressure Ulcers conference in Manchester, UK, in March 2015. It outlined why pressure ulcer incidence is so high in intensive care patients, and practical strategies for eliminating the occurrence of pressure ulcers in this setting, through a combination of cultural change and the use of prophylactic dressings.
