Commissioning for Quality and Innovation target for wound assessment – is it working?

The Burden of Wounds (BoW) study (Guest et al, 2015) identified that many patients were not receiving a proper ​wound assessment or appropriate care and that their wounds, therefore, were failing to heal. In response, NHS England introduced and implemented a Wound Assessment Commissioning for Quality and Innovation (CQUIN) Target for 2017–2019 (NHS England, 2018).
