About

Wounds are a growing but often overlooked epidemic, affecting more than 3.8 million people every year in the UK, with both prevalence and complexity continuing to rise. Despite their clinical severity, wound patients frequently fall between service lines, with unclear ownership at ICS level, limited visibility in performance frameworks and no centralised tracking to support effective decision-making.

This session will uncover new insights from the UK’s largest wound database, highlighting the systemic blind spots, fragmented pathways and missed opportunities that are leading to preventable harm. Join us to explore why the current system is under strain, why wound care must become a strategic priority and what can be done to drive earlier healing and better outcomes.

Speakers: Jacqui Hughes, Bernadette McGlynn
Chair: Jacqui Fletcher
