Back to basics: understanding venous leg ulceration

Chronic venous disease is a term used to describe both visual and functional manifestations of abnormalities in the peripheral venous system (Wittens et al, 2015). The number of people with leg ulceration in the UK is at least 730,000, which equals 1.5% of the adult population (Guest et al, 2017).
