Understanding the quality of a quantitative paper (5): bias

In the last paper in this series we considered how one might assess the quality of quantitative research with reference to a randomised controlled trial (RCT; Ellis, 2022a). We considered the use of blinding, or masking, and how this can be used to hide from the participant, research team, or both, whether the participant is being given the active treatment or the treatment against which this is being tested — the control.
