Following a review undertaken at the turn of the century (National Burn Care Review, 2001) it became clear that burns services in the UK required an overhaul. This led to the establishment of the Northern Burn Care Network, set up in response to the review in 2008.
This article focuses on the development the Burns Link Nurse Framework and outlines the nature of the “train-the-trainer” model. The success of the network can be seen through the positive feedback gained from burns link nurses and the reduction in appropriate referrals.
