Burns injuries pose a significant challenge to inexperienced clinicians throughout their pathway of treatment. Accurate management needs to continue from the initial burns first aid, addressing scar tissue and associated complications to ensure successful outcomes for patients and their families. This pathway can continue upto 2 years post-injury and so awareness of scar management techniques is imperative to the care of a patient whether they be treated by a specialist unit or in the community.
